Bacteria to fight Viruses??

The following article from Louise Hendon of ketosummit.com shared some great advise about protecting ourselves from viruses, including Corona.   And it is a very simple diet/lifestyle hack that is easily adopted.  The following is excerpted from her message to her mail list:

“… a few days ago, I was on the phone to my friend (who’s a doctor in England), and what he said really surprised me...Apparently, back in 2011, researchers at Yale University (1) found that viruses like coronavirus really hate one thing.

You see - the goal of any virus is to get inside your body, attach to certain tissue (like your lungs), and then multiply. However, the researchers found that there’s one very surprising difference between being an easy target for a virus … or else being very hard to infect…

Bacteria! It sounds SO WEIRD, but if you have enough good bacteria in your body - especially in your stomach and intestine - then 2 things happen:

1. Those bacteria (mostly in your gut) fight off bad viruses before they can even infect you -- since most viruses enter through your mouth, nose, and stomach.

2. If you do get sick, the researchers found that good bacteria made your immune system 10x stronger at fighting off the infection and making it less serious.

Imagine that - if the GOOD bacteria in your gut are healthier and stronger, then you’re LESS LIKELY to get sick from viruses like coronavirus

And this has been proven by a bunch of scientists, from Yale (1) to Mexico (2) to China (3) to Spain (4).

Luckily -- I already knew that having great gut bacteria is super important for losing weight and improving my digestion. (Even though I had no idea that it might also help me avoid getting really sick.)

So for the past few years, I’ve been focusing every single day on doing everything I can to improve the health of my good gut bacteria. I mostly eat a really healthy diet of whole, organic foods. And whenever I can, I eat probiotic-rich foods like kimchi and sauerkraut.
