How I got Over my Fear of doing FB Live
/So are you one of those people who shuns/and or is addicted to Facebook? And you have a business that you know could be promoted much more widely if you just could figure out where to begin and how to do it. Well that was/is me. But how do you make yourself be seen between all those adorable cats, dogs and babies…and all the other miscellaneous stuff. You can see my most embarrassing moment in my MLM history story here.
I’ve long known that if I really want to take my business to the level where I really want it to be, I’m going to have to step up my game in some way. And low and behold about a month ago, up pops a Facebook Live challenge. This one seemed different than other challenges I’ve seen. It was different because there was a small cost to participate and prizes to be won. And it ran only for one week! I know that I can do anything for just 7 days, so I paid the fee and jumped in.
Our assignment was to go into Facebook, everyday for a week and post a live video on what ever topic we wanted to talk about…oh yeah and did I mention this particular challenge was more geared to network marketers who’ve been stuck in old technology and training systems that haven’t created the kind of income they were hoping for when they started with their respective companies. It’s focus was clearly on networkers who are ready and willing to work to get themselves seen more on-line.
So six of the seven FB Lives that I did were pretty standard stuff, but I have to say, by the end of the week I was much more comfortable and even found myself looking forward to doing them! But by far the one that was the most fun and got the most views was this one that still makes me laugh. If you know me at all, you know that doing something like this and POSTING it out into the INTERWEB was totally out of the question before I took this little challenge. Another thing we were challenged to do was a series of 5 ‘talks’ on any subject we wanted, so I came up with ‘What keeps Boomers Up at night?’ You can access those videos here.
In summary, that seven day challenge was the best $10 (yes that’s right ten dollars) investment in personal development I’ve ever made. I highly recommend stepping out of your comfort zone once in a while. It could create a massive leap in the growth of your confidence and maybe even your business. Who knows maybe my trailer park maven look may put me out of business altogether, but for now at least I’m having a lot of fun doing it.
That whole experience has given me the courage to really step things up. My next adventure started right after this one, when I enrolled in an on-line marketing course specifically designed to help mlm’rs ‘go viral’ if you will. Here’s a link to a FREE 10 bootcamp if you’re interested in some great tips on how to do this for your business whether its MLM or not!
